How To Make Your Bedroom Extra Cosy This Winter

Winter is definitely my favourite season (I hate being cold!), but I have to say that there’s a lot to be said for comfy oversized jumpers, warm hot chocolates, and snuggly movie nights. I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to the cold, so I have adapted over the years and learned how to make my bedroom cosy and comfy! If you are just like me and looking for tips on how to make your bedroom extra warm and comfortable this winter, keep reading!

Get yourself some comfy bedding.

First things first, sort out the most important part of any bedroom – the bed! In order to make your bedroom cosy, you need to invest in some good quality bedding. The Snug Company sells soft, quality bedding that is ideal for making your bedroom cosy and inviting all year round, but especially during the winter months. There’s something so satisfying about putting on the winter bedset as the weather changes!

If you’re the type of person who gets cold whilst in bed, you could consider investing in a heavier duvet. Thicker duvets will keep the heat in and make sure you stay warm and cosy all night long. If that’s not enough, you could also think about purchasing an electric blanket, or a good old fashioned hot water bottle.

Think about your lighting choices.

I recently bought myself a smart lightbulb for my bedroom and it has been a total gamer changer. For studying and working, Alexa will turn my light to a bright white so I can do what I need to do without straining my eyes. When I want to cosy up in bed and watch Christmas films with the Mr, the smart lightbulb can create a beautifully calming, soft atmosphere by turning the lights to a warm hue – all without my having to move a muscle!

LED Fairy Lights come in lots of different shades and styles

Nothing says ‘cosy winter bedroom’ quite like fairy lights. Whether they’re mains or battery powered, LED fairy lights last for a long time and cost next to nothing to run. Fairy lights come in all different shades and colours, so it’s easy to find something that suits your aesthetic.

Candles add warmth and create an inviting environment for you to relax in

When those chilly winter evenings come knocking, you can’t deny how warm and inviting candles can make a room feel. When thinking about how to make your bedroom cosy, it’s important to think about the smaller details too. Scented candles can add so much warmth into a room, as well as providing some seriously delicious seasonal scents. My favourite festive scented candle has to be the classic gingerbread!

Accessorise your bedroom.

Just like when you add accessories to your outfit, adding accessories to your bedroom can help tie the whole room together. In winter, we tend to seek soft and warm fabrics as they make us feel comfortable and relaxed. Positioning a rug on your floor can help make your room feel more comfortable and warm. You could also decorate with seasonal house plants – Poinsettias are associated with Christmas and are easy indoor plants to keep.

There are lots of other ways to make your bedroom cosy this winter.

The trick to creating a space that’s warm and inviting this winter is to stay true to yourself and think about the type of things that make you feel comfortable and relaxed. If candles aren’t your thing, then don’t rush out and buy them in the hopes they may make your bedroom feel more inviting; instead consider alternatives, such as standing lamps or other forms of soft lighting. If house plants are the bane of your existence, think about faux plants – these can even be changed with the season to keep your room looking fresh. However you choose to make your bedroom cosy this winter, I hope these tips have given you some inspiration!
