One of my favourite things to do in summer is to invite friends and family over to have a big old BBQ. It’s so nice to have everyone in one place and it’s easy to keep everyone fed and entertained thanks to the lack of formality and the relaxed, fun atmosphere.
There are some garden essentials that I wouldn’t be without when it came to BBQ season. I want my guests to be comfortable, safe, and well-fed! Therefore today I am going to be sharing my tips on how to get your garden summer BBQ ready, including the best ways to make sure your garden’s in tip-top condition before guests arrive, as well as seating ideas and other great tips.
Tidy your garden up, especially if you have pets.
First thing first, if you have pets you’re going to want to put a couple of hours of work into tidying your garden up. Trust me, no one wants to accidentally step in something nasty because you didn’t have the time to check the garden was clear! Make sure there’s no animal waste on the grass or paths, check that your seating is dry and clean, make sure that there aren’t any immediate hazards, and give the grass a once over with the lawnmower.
Make sure you have plenty of seating arrangements.
People want to be able to chat, move around, and chill out with their friends and family just as much as you do. Because of this, you’re going to want to make sure you have plenty of seating arrangements for your guests. Garden table sets are a great place to start as they offer comfortable seating alongside somewhere to eat all that tasty BBQ food, but there are also other options such as benches and sun loungers.
Fancy a little nap in the sun? Get a hammock!
One of the best things about summer BBQs is how much food you get to eat! I don’t know about anyone else, but after I’ve eaten as much as I can possibly consume, I usually want to take a nap – especially in the summer sunshine. If this sounds familiar to you, you have to get yourself a hammock! I bought a hammock for our garden last year and it was such a good purchase; it got used by everyone and was a massive hit. Even the kids loved it!
Create your own garden bar.
If you want to make your garden extra cool this summer, why not consider building your own garden bar? There are lots of ways to do this; you could build yourself one from pallets, purchase one (I’ve seen some very cool Tiki-themed garden bars!), or even turn your garden shed into your very own bar.
Make sure there are places for people to put their food and drinks down.
Finally, you want your guests to be able to have peace of mind knowing that if they need to pop to the loo or leave the garden for a few moments, their drink is going to be safe and exactly where they left it. Always make sure there are plenty of spaces for guests to put their food and drinks down in case they need to, whether this is a garden table, chairs with cup holders or even just the garden wall.
