Plan A Killer Holiday: 5 Places To Visit In Paris

As the world slowly starts to open up again, you may have found yourself dreaming of far-off coastlines and sophisticated city restaurants. I know I have! 

Paris is a beautiful city to visit and it’s easily accessible from our little island. Whether you choose to fly, hop on the Eurostar, or drive – it’s a brilliant city to go sightseeing in and explore new cuisines.

Here are my 5 favourite places to visit in Paris. These are definitely my must-see destinations, so don’t forget to bookmark this page if you’re planning a European holiday. 

Eiffel Tower

No trip to Paris is complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower! This famous landmark doesn’t disappoint, especially at night time when the whole tower is illuminated with thousands of glittering lights. There’s a lift that takes you to the top of the tower, however there’s usually a sizable queue. Alternatively, you can brave the steps – all 674 of them – which will take you to the 2nd floor. If you wish to go all the way to the top, you can catch the lift from the 2nd floor at a supplemented price. 

Les Catacombes de Paris

Alright, so this one might not immediately spring to mind when you think of sophisticated Paris, but hear me out. The catacombs are an extremely popular attraction, despite their morbidness, and the tickets must be booked in advance online. The ossuary lies 20 metres underground and contains the remains of several million Parasians. It’s advisable you wear comfy shoes as there’s a fair bit of walking to do, but as you stroll through the bone clad tunnels, you’ll learn about the amazing history and the story behind the Catacombs of Paris.

Disneyland Paris

One for the adults and kids alike, if you are a fan of the movies, no trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the famous Disneyland Paris park. Disneyland is easily accessible via the metro and RER trains, which is just as well as it’s on the outskirts of the city. There are two parks to explore, Disneyland & Walt Disney Studios. My advice is to arrive early and set aside the whole day for exploring Disneyland Paris as it’s absolutely huge and the rides usually have long queues (fast passes are available). Also, don’t forget to stay for the fireworks show at closing time and watch the parade on main street.

Père-Lachaise Cemetery 

Another odd holiday destination? I hear you ask – yep, but this one’s pretty cool too. You see, this famous burial site is the final resting place of numerous French luminaries – authors, princesses, writers, musicians, and more. It also happens to hold the remains of Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison. The place is huge and the floors are cobblestones, so I’d advise comfortable footwear when visiting. Make sure you grab a map on the way in! 

Notre Dame Cathedral

My advice is to arrive early as there’s lots to see! It would be easy to spend an hour or more wandering the walls of this iconic cathedral, so wear comfortable footwear. You don’t need to be religious to appreciate this Gothic masterpiece and it’s incredibly rich history.
