6 Ways To Be More Positive

A negative mindset can be challenging to overcome. People who are hardwired to see the worst in things typically find life isn’t all roses and are generally dissatisfied with many areas of their lives.

Shifting towards a positive and healthier mindset can be a game-changer, offering significant benefits to your mood, mental health, and life opportunities. The English Longitudinal Study of Aging and a similar study in Singapore found that happier individuals tend to live longer. This underscores the transformative power of a positive mindset, empowering you to take control of your life and wellbeing. It’s a beacon of hope, showing that a brighter, more fulfilling life is within reach.

Plus, being miserable and down on your luck isn’t as much fun as enjoying the good things in life. So, if you want to pull yourself out of a rut and embrace the good side of life, these tips can help bring some positivity back to your mindset and give you a whole new outlook on life.

Positivity Course and Workshops

Signing yourself up for a course, group, or workshop aimed at helping people become inspired to be better and improve their lives can be a useful way to help that positivity step into your life. The Be Inspired Group is a group of like-minded people chasing success, and it gives you the tools to move forward with getting what you want from life.

Alternatively, you can take charge of your personal development by seeking out other courses, both free and paid, that enable you to dive into the happier side of life and turn your fortunes around.

Challenge Negative Thoughts

Positivity will not stick if you let all the negative thoughts overrun the good ones. Every time you get a negative thought, challenge yourself as to why you think like this. For instance, if you’re thinking, ‘I’m not good enough ‘, ask yourself why you feel this way. Why are you looking for the bad? What is the worst that will happen if you ignore the negativity in your head? Then, put a positive spin on it where you can. This change in thinking will not be instant, but it can start tuning the cogs for change.

Gratitude

Hand in hand with the above point comes practising gratitude. Gratitude is looking for the good things in life. They can be huge or small. It can be being grateful that you got home from work before the rain started, made a really nice cup of tea this morning, or liked how you style your hair. The more good things you can find in life, the happier you will be. It’s about finding joy in the little things and feeling content with what you have.

Remove Negative People

Or distance yourself if you cannot remove them entirely from your life. When it comes to being more positive and happier, you want to be surrounding yourself with people who also want this for you and themselves. By being with people who have a happy persona and infectious positivity, you will find yourself slowly infected so you can pivot how you think and feel about yourself and others and embrace joy in life. If people constantly bring you down, this will also take you over to their way of thinking. So try as much as possible to avoid those with nothing nice to say and find your supportive people.

Smile More

Smiling is contagious, and if you smile at someone, they, too, will most likely (not always) return the smile. Smiling at anyone can be incredibly uplifting and make you feel better, even if just in that instance. But the more you smile, the better you will feel, and the better you will make others feel, too.

Take Care of You

If you neglect your health and wellness for any reason, it’s highly likely you won’t feel at your best. Poor diets, lack of movement, and bad sleeping habits will all accumulate over time, leaving you feeling rather rubbish and not in the best space. Remember, you are important, and your health matters. Taking care of yourself is not a luxury; it’s a necessity.

To pursue your new and improved mindset, you also need to focus on your overall health and wellbeing. At a minimum, you need a decent night’s sleep every single night. You also need to be eating a balanced diet to enable your body to get the nutrients it needs. This doesn’t mean going on a diet but being more intentful about what you eat: less junk food and more whole, nutritious foods. Staying adequately hydrated is also key for boosted health, as is moving more. It doesn’t need to be 5 days a week vigorous exercise, but you’d need to include some type of movement, even just walking, in your routine for boosted health and wellness.
