Everyone has had the experience of studying while lying in bed. While some people study in bed since it is their habit, others do it because of exhaustion or back pain.
You want to conduct your revisions in a pleasant atmosphere after a long day at school, but you don’t have one in your room. You have no choice but to give up your uncomfortable desk and sleep in your bed under the comfy down duvet.
Studying while lying in bed
Many students think studying in bed is a great idea. You can study while your body relaxes. It’s also a great place to go running in the winter.
The question of whether studying in bed has any effect on a student’s grades has been debated. To this question, there is no definitive answer. There has been no empirical evidence linking studying in bed with poor grades.
Some people prefer to study in their beds. Others will need to locate a desk and sit up straight. Many things can go wrong if you study in bed all the time; as a result, authorities advise against it.
A student must select a comfortable position and posture to study in order to achieve high grades. Nothing should be able to distract you while you are studying for excellent marks.
Some of the reasons why you should not study in bed are listed below.
* You’ll Most Likely Fall Asleep
Our bodies are aware that we are going to bed to relax. We confuse the subconscious mind when we take our books to bed. Concentration gets difficult. You’ll probably lose track of time and fall asleep.
The beds are quite comfortable. When you lie in bed with your books, the bed comforts you, and after a little while, your mind shuts off, and you wake up with your book’s pages creased.
* You’re going to hurt your eyes.
When you take your studies to bed, you have options for studying positions.
Sit on the bed, place a cushion on your lap, and then place your book or laptop on top of that. You will not fall asleep easily in this position.
Second, you can sit while reclined while using your pillow as support. Your eyes and back will be comfortable in this position. However, it is unavoidable to fall asleep in this position.
The third step is to get a book, lie down on your stomach, and place the book beneath you. It’s not a particularly comfortable position, and you can only study for a short time in it. Your eyes could be permanently damaged within that brief period.
* You’ll end up hurting your back and neck.
You crave the coziness of your bed or couch when you return to your room after a long day. You don’t want to waste any time because the exams are just around the corner.
When you lie on your stomach, your back is strained, and it hurts a lot. You won’t be able to concentrate on your studies, and your grades will suffer as a result.
When you lie on your stomach, the curve of your spine is disrupted. You raise your shoulders and neck, twisting your spine to its limit, and staying in that posture for an extended period of time pulls the muscles and nerves, resulting in significant back discomfort.
* You’ll get in the way with your Sleeping Schedule
A bed is a location where you can unwind. When we go to bed, our bodies secrete hormones that help us relax. Our bodies, on the other hand, adapt to various environments. When you make studying in bed a habit, your bed no longer feels like a safe haven. It will provide conflicting messages to the brain. It will be difficult for you to sleep, and you may experience nightmares.
* You’ll be unable to concentrate.
Studying necessitates a high level of concentration. For the study, a bed is far too comfortable. When your body is relaxed, your mind starts to wander. You think about a lot of stuff that isn’t related to your books. You end up squandering a significant amount of time. The time you spend studying in bed is not productive in any manner.
The snooze buttons will be pressed by the cuddling of your soft pillow and soft blankets. Your mind will be far from books in no time.
You’ll start doing other things to stay awake while studying in bed, such as eating a snack, playing with your teddy bear, or playing candy crush on your phone. Your attention will be drawn away from the literature, and the time will be wasted.
* You’ll be wasting your time if you don’t do something else.
As previously said, you will not be able to focus for long periods of time in bed. You’ll sneak into Facebook, Pinterest, or other interesting social sites in your wandering thoughts. It will take up valuable study time.
While studying, many people eat snacks. Wiping snack residue from a desk only takes a few minutes. Your bowl of snacks will soil your bedding if you study in bed.
